They are actually programmed to understand what you’re saying. They are AI that interacts when you use devices. In that respect, they are legitimate projects which will help audiences far more than a mom who wants Spongebob to tell her child, “Happy Birthday!”Įven virtual personal assistants, Siri (Apple), Cortana (Microsoft), Bixby (Samsung), and Alexa (Amazon) were created using a type of TTS. However, these projects are furthering the abilities of text-to-speech software. While 15.ai and VO.codes translating your text into speech using a famous voice are more for fun.
In other words, they’re used for interaction for business or even to help people with disabilities. These are different than the TTS of 15.ai and VO.codes in that they’re more utilitarian. Another pioneer in this industry is Dragon Speech Recognition.

Also known as 15.ai, this site would let you type in what you wanted your favorite character to say, and then your beloved character would read the personalized text out loud.
